MedPAN, the network of Mediterranean Marine Protected Area managers, is organising a regional training workshop on governance practices for the management of Small Scale Fisheries in MPAs. The training will be held 9-11 October in Sali/Telašćica Nature Park in Croatia. It has been organised in association with several partners, including WWF Mediterranean, and pilot sites within the framework of the large Mediterranean programme of the MAVA foundation and the Interreg Med FishMPABlue2 project. It will be embedded within the FishMPABlue2 project toolkit transfer regional training course.
This training course will focus on lessons learnt from pilot projects and will be organised in modules related to the different components of the MAVA programme and the FishMPABlue2 toolkit (i.e. a set of governance measures identified as key factors for the successful management of Small Scale Fisheries within and around MPAs). It will feature concrete practical exercises for MPA managers to understand how the process could be implemented in their site.
A field exchange visit will be organised in conjunction with the regional training course. This exchange visit will aim at sharing MPA governance practices for the management of Small Scale Fisheries, and more specifically on the application of the governance toolkit developed within the FishMPABlue2 project.
